Spotlight: Goodbeans

Goodbeans now at Borough Market
This summer has been a bit of a renaissance for cold-brew in London. With established coffee shops like Nude, Artisan and Ozone brewing their own and Sandows hitting Selfridges, there's definitely been more choice than ever.

A personal favorite of mine is goodbeans who splashed onto the scene at the London Coffee Festival earlier this year. Established only a year ago by Rosa Escoda and Becky Neale, they've initiated their cold-brew venture as a social enterprise project- redirecting a portion of profits to local community projects. They brew their coffee in South London just near Southwark.

With labels written by hand, there's definitely a lot of care and dedication into goodbeans' operation. When I visited their stall in Borough market, there were two single origins on sale. A Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and a Costa Rican Tarrazu and Roza enthusiastically offered me to try both.

Their stockists is small, but growing and includes the new Kin Cafe in Fitzrovia and Beany Green outside the Royal Festival Hall on the Southbank. You can find their stall at Borough Market every Wedenesday.
